Lenka Lichtenberg is an award-winning Canadian, Prague-born composer, vocalist, (Yiddish, English, Czech, French, Hebrew), arranger, producer, ethnomusicologist (M.A. in ethnomusicology, York University 2003) and bandleader with 5 solo CD releases and several collaborations on her resume. In 2011, she was nominated for the Canadian Music Awards as a world music artist of the year, and her recordings won several prizes. She has performed on 4 continents, in 25 countries as a solo artist, or her six piece ensemble "Fray". Recent performances include the Honeycomb Way Project with Frank London and Yair Dalal (March, 2012); Chutzpah! Festival in Vancouver with Fray and Yair Dalal (February, 2012), APAP showcase in New York (January, 2012). Other recent performances: Ethno-jazz festival in Wroclaw and World Fusion Music Festival in Sosnowiec, Poland; Folkove prazdniny and Samajim festivals in Czech Republic, klezfiesta in Argentina, concerts of original music in Montreal, Quebec City, and Prague. Important collaborations include "Lenka Lichtenberg & Roula Said: Bridges" - Jewish and Arabic music in dialogue, and "Lullabies from Exile", a recording work-in-progress with Yair Dalal, of intertwined Yiddish and Babylonian music. Lenka's latest project "Songs for the Breathing Walls", also the subject of a 2011 Czech TV documentary film, was recorded in 12 Czech and Moravian synagogues, with a release at the Jerusalem synagogue in Prague in June, 2012.
