Holocaust

At the beginning of September 1942, the Ghetto's Elder Rumkowski was ordered to evict another 15,000 inhabitants from the Ghetto, in particular children under the age of 10 and adults over 65. Ghetto policemen, doctors, etc. and their families were exempted. The list of 2500 names has been conserved and indexed to allow searches. Some of the names had to be reconstructed, because dictation changed the names'orthography. Additional data to the birth years and other information was added. But the guards did not wait for a list and did their own selection on the spot, still, the List seems to have saved some people temporarily. Page examples of the so far unpublished list will be shown together with excerpts from survivors' autobiographies about the „Gehsperre" events.
In addition application forms with passport photographs of hundreds of Ghetto inhabitants have been found, they also contain data about religious marriages performed in the ghetto.

Interesting for researchers on the Lodz Ghetto and research on the Polish, German, Austrian and Czech deportees to the Ghetto.
