Registration Help

We illustrate here the step-by-step procedures for registering for the conference or for updating registration information, including adding optional fee-based items. We welcome suggestions for improvements to the page. [The screen shots show the registration form as of June 14, 2013.]

NOTE: This is NOT the actual registration form. The images you see here are just pictures of what the form looks like. If you do not know how to have two web pages visible at the same time on your screen, you might want to print out this page so you can look at it while you are working with the actual registration form.

We cannot emphasize enough the importance of reading the instructions on the registration pages. Many people have made serious mistakes that would have been avoided had they read and followed the instructions.

 


Quick Links to Help on Specific Registration Pages

The following is a list of the pages of the registration form. Click on any of them to jump to the HELP for that page.

  • Page 1: Attendee Registration

    This is where you enter your name and contact information. This is also where you indicate any special requirements you have, how you want your name to appear on your badge. Finally, this is where you list the surnames, towns, and countries that you are researching.

  • Page 2: Miscellaneous

    This page asks for additional information, such as how much research experience you have, how many IAJGS conferences you have attended, how you learned about the conference, etc. It also asks about your willingness to volunteer to help with the conference.

  • Page 3: Organizational Membership

    This page asks about any leadership positions you hold in IAJGS member societies and about your membership in societies and SIGs.

  • Page 4: Conference Registration Fees

    Here you specify your choice of registration type (full, daily, student, etc.).

  • Page 5: Optional Fee-Based Items

    This is the page where you sign up for optional events: computer workshops, Breakfasts with Experts, SIG Luncheons, the Gala Banquet, and tours. You can also purchase optional items: printed syllabus, extra tote bags, extra memory sticks.

  • Page 6: Review

    This page displays a summary of the items you have ordered and their costs. If something is not right, you can go back and make changes. This is also the page on which two other important steps can be taken as appropriate and in the following order:

    1. Entering a "Discount Code"
    2. Adding an additional registrant (such as a spouse)

  • Page 7: Payment

    This is the page for making your payment, normally by entering your credit card information. There is an option to pay by check (with limitations).

 


New Registration

If you are just beginning the registration process, go to the Registration Form page on the conference website. Then continue with Page 1 below.

Updating Registration

If you have already registered and want to update your information, go to the Registration Update page on the conference website. Fill in the login information that was sent to you in the confirmation message when you registered for the conference (your Email and Password) or use the password-recovery option displayed. See the screen-capture image below. Then click on the "Login" button.

You should now see a screen like the following:

Click on the link "Edit Registration for [your name]".

 


Page 1: Attendee Registration

You are now in the first page of the registration form, the "Attendee Registration" page. If you are updating, the information you submitted previously will already be filled in, and you need to enter only information that you want to change.

If this is an initial registration, you will have to fill in the information. Pay attention to the required fields.

The image below shows what the top of the page looks like. (Ignore the "Admin Only Autofill" line in the image; registrants do not see that line.)

Fill in or edit the information as you scroll down the page. The last item, as shown below, is the Family Finder information that will appear on your badge and in the conference Family Finder booklet. When you are done, click on the "Continue" button.

Page 2: Miscellaneous

Now you are on the second page of the registration form, the "Miscellaneous" page, shown in the image below. When you see a box with a downward-pointing triagle, as in the first two question, click on the triangle icon. When the selection bar with the allowed answers opens, click on your answer.

Fill in the information until you reach the end of the page. Then click on the "Continue" button to proceed to the next page. If you want to go back to the previous page, you may click on the "Go Back" button (see the bottom of the image in Page 4).

Page 3: Organizational Membership

Now you are on the third page of the registration form, the "Organizational Membership" page, shown in the image below. If you select "Yes" for either of the questions:

  • Do you belong to a Jewish Genealogical Society (JGS)?
  • Do you belong to a Special Interest Group (SIG)?

lists of JGSs and/or SIGs will appear in the screen and allow you to select as many as you belong to. The first few JGSs are shown in the image below.

Fill in the information until you reach the end of the page. Then click on the "Continue" button.

 


Page 4: Conference Registration Fees

Now you are on the fourth page of the registration form, the "Conference Registration Fees" page, shown in the image below.

If you are the first registrant in this session, there will be the three registration types shown in the image: Full Registration, Full-TIme Student Registration, and Daily Registration. When "Daily Registration" is selected, the options for the six days of the conference will appear, and you can select the days for which you wish to register.

If you have followed the instruction on a later page to add another person to your registration, then an additional registration type will appear: Spouse/Domestic Partner Registration. If the additional person meets the criteria for a spouse/partner, you may select that option. Otherwise, select one of the other options.

When you are done, click on the "Continue" button.

When you have completed the page, click on the "Continue" button to proceed to the next page.

 


Page 5: Optional Fee-Based Items

Now you are on the fifth page of the registration form, the "Optional Fee-Based Items" page, the top of which is shown in the image below.

The top of the page provides descriptions of the items available. If you have not already studied the information about the items, you should read this section carefully before proceeding. One should especially note cut-off dates for some items. The entire (quite long) page can be viewed at the end of this web page (click here to see it in a separate window).

The next image shows the bottom of the page. When SIG Luncheon or banquet tickets are purchased, meal selection questions will appear at the end of the page for each meal. The image below shows the case where the Ukraine SIG Luncheon and two tickets for the banquet have been selected. (We don't know why the two banquet ticket meal selections do not appear together.)

When you have completed the page, click on the "Continue" button to proceed to the next page.

 


Page 6: Review

Now you are on the sixth page of the registration form, the "Review" page, which is shown in the image below. It summarizes the items that have been selected and how much they cost.

Many people have made mistakes with this page. If you have a discount code or are planning to register a second person, it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to read the instructions at the top. Steps must be taken in a very particular order.

When you have completed the page, click on the "Continue" button to proceed to the next page.

 


Page 7: Payment

Now you are on the seventh page of the registration form, the "Payment" page, the top of which is shown in the image below.

The image below shows the bottom of this page, which includes three actions that must be performed before the registration can be completed. It is critical to read the instructions carefully. Many people have made mistakes here.

When you have completed the page, click on the "Continue" button. Your registration is now complete. The final screen will show your confirmation.
