Register for DC2011 at the hotel starting Aug. 13

On-line registration is closed, but you can still sign up for a week jam-packed with interesting, informative and enjoyable events in the Nation's Capital. It doesn't matter where you are staying, just come to the conference registration desk at the Grand Hyatt Washington after 9 p.m. Saturday, August 13, or after 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. For logistical reasons, we had to stop accepting sign-ups for meals and embassy visits at midnight EDT July 31, but some workshops still have space.

Please review and be familiar with the information below, including the Frequently Asked Questions, before beginning the registration process.

I've seen all this before. Take me there now.

Registration details

On the registration pages you'll find pricing information, cancellation policies and lots of questions about you! We want to know all about you before you arrive, including your background and research interests, so we can tailor the conference to what you want most. You can revise any of your answers before the conference begins; however, be sure your contact information and Family Finder data are complete before July 1.

Click here to go to the our special hotel room reservation page for the Grand Hyatt Washington. Our room rate is $199 per night, requiring a separate reservation with the hotel. We suggest you reserve these rooms early, as they are limited. (The hotel has its own cancellation policy, explained on the room reservation pages.)

In addition, you will miss the June 30 deadline for submitting your Family Finder data. You will not be able to register for any of the meal events. Finally, you will miss out on saving money at the discounted on-line preregistration price. Other items available to registered companions include, but are not limited to, the Cyber Café, the Resource Center, exhibits, and speakers giving talks of more general interest.

A. No. Breakfasts and lunches are open only to registrants. The only events that such a person may attend are the pre-conference dinners and the Conference Gala.

Q. Can I buy printed copies of the conference Syllabus and Family Finder?

A. Full-conference registrants, except students, will receive a CD version of the Syllabus. If you want a printed version of the Syllabus you must order and pay for it when you register on line. You may register now and add your Syllabus payment later, but the deadline is June 30. We will not have extra copies of the printed Syllabus for purchase at the conference.

The printed Family Finder is included in Full Registration, including Student Registration. A companion and anyone who purchases a daily (e.g., Monday-only) registration on line by July 1 may also order a copy of the printed Family Finder, to be picked up at check-in, for an added fee. Copies of the Family Finder will not be available for sale at the conference.

Q. You said above that you will ask a lot of questions about me. What if I don't have all that information at my fingertips? Should I delay registering until I gather the data?

A. No. Enter as much information as you can now and continue the registration process to the end. Your confirmation notice will contain instructions on how you can go back to revise your answers and modify your registration as needed. But be sure your Family Finder data is complete before July 1!

A word about Family Finder information: As you assemble the names and origins of the relatives you're researching, please make sure you have the modern day names of their cities or shtetls and countries. If you are unsure of a name or spelling, you may refer to the JewishGen Communities Database, at http://www.jewishgen.org/Communities/Search.asp
